QUETTA - President PML-Q Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has said that his party was not involved in the killing of Nawab Muhammad Akbar Khan Bugti. He expressed these views while taking to newsmen at Quetta airport and also addressing a Press conference here at a local hotel on Sunday.

Shujaat Hussain flanked by party’s General Secretary Mushahid Hussain Syed arrived in Quetta on one-day visit in connection with the Senate elections. Only 10 PML-Q Provincial Ministers out of 18 were present on the occasion. Chaudhry Shujaat said that the basic purpose of their visit to Quetta was to meet party leaders and workers and consult them regarding the Senate elections.

He said that PML-Q was the largest political party in the province which had 18 members in Balochistan Assembly.

‘Besides party leaders they have also met political coalition partners and also consulted them about Senate elections’, he added.

He said that their party was united and it would remain united as well in the future.

Denying the issuance of party ticket to outsiders from Balochistan, he reiterated that the local people of Balochistan would be given tickets in Senate elections.

Responding to a question, he said that PML-Q was playing a key role for the promotion of democracy in the country.  ‘Our performance is not hidden from anybody as we never fuelled the differences rather always played role of bridge and reconciliation so that the democracy could not be destabilised’, he stated.  He said that if former President Pervez Musharraf returned to the country he would be arrested.

To another query, he said that PML-Q had supported Nawab Aslam Raisani for the slot of Chief Minister on the request of Musharraf because at that time Musharraf and PPP had an understanding. ‘PML-Q does not believe in solo flight and it would take all coalition partners on board in Senate elections’, he said, adding, the tickets for candidates would be issued by provincial leadership of party as party believed in provincial autonomy. Referring to the meeting of PML-Q members with PML-N President Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, he said that there was no ban on meetings. When his attention was drawn towards Tehreek-e-Insaf, he said Imran Khan is our friend if he came with a good programme we would cooperate with him.

Referring to Pervez Musharraf, Chaudary Shujaat said that any decision would be taken in accordance with the law and if he returned to the country he would be arrested. Earlier, talking to media at Quetta Airport, he said that PML-Q would resolve the issue of Balochistan. ‘Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti had complete trust in us and PML-Q was not involved in the murder of Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti’, he added. He said that PML-Q has full capability to solve the deteriorating situation of Balochistan.

He said that PML-Q had raised the issues of Balochistan at all forums and it was PML-Q which talked about provincial autonomy.
