SIALKOT - The Indian Border Security Forces (BSF) on Thursday night resorted to unprovoked heavy mortar shelling on Sialkot border villages along the Working Boundary.

The areas which came under Indian fire were Charwah, Joyiaan, Harpal, Anula, Dhamaala, Bajra Garhi, Umeraanwali, Thathi Meendarwal, Rangor and Bhagiyaari along the Sialkot Working Boundary.

According to senior officials of the Chenab Rangers, the Indian BSF on Thursday night started shelling Sialkot border villages at about 07:00pm which continued till late at night.

In this fresh spell of heavy Indian mortar shelling after a two-day lull, the Indian BSF again targeted the civilian population of Sialkot border villages in Bajra Garhi, Umeraanwali, Harpal and Charwah sectors along the Working Boundary. Several mortar shells fired by Indian BSF fell in local fields which could not explode.

The Chenab Rangers retaliated effectively making the Indian guns silent, the senior CR officials added.

No loss of life or any injury was reported, the CR officials confirmed here.

The Indian bullets and mortar shells hit houses of the locals and damaged several of them in this fresh firing spell.
