Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammed Chaudhry Monday said a man who has court verdict against him, turns against judiciary.

Heading a five-member bench hearing 26 petitions filed against new contempt of court law 2012, the Chief Justice Chaudhry said the judge is considered good, if he delivers a favorable verdict.

Pleading before the bench, petitioner Shahid Orakzai submitted ‘contempt’ does not mean disrespect to the court; instead, it means antagonism to justice, adding Article-204 of the Constitution does not make any mention of apology over contempt charge.

How the pardon, which the Constitution does not ensure, could be given under a law, he added.
