PESHAWAR - The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government has decided to undertake special development programmes in the current fiscal year for the improvement and development of police department.

Official sources told this news agency on Sunday that massive allocations have been envisaged under the third phase of Police Support Development Programme aimed it to strengthen police department by constructing its infrastructure in the province. Under the programme, police stations, police posts and police lines would be constructed to improve security situation besides fighting the menace of terrorism.

The official said the government would construct and complete 31 police stations, posts and police lines in current fiscal year.

Similarly, a mega project on strengthening rule of law will also be implemented with the assistance of United Nation’s Development Programme (UNDP). Focus would be made on construction of police posts and stations that were damaged/destroyed during terrorist’s attacks.

For Home Department, projects pertaining to Police, Prisons and Prosecution Departments besides Rescue-1122 have been integrated. In the Police Department’s related schemes, main emphasis will be on completion of ongoing programs.

The government has allocated Rs 3725 million to complete 31 one schemes in the new province. The portfolio of Prisons Department incorporates projects for the construction and rehabilitation of Prisons, Solar energisation and provision of water filtration plants besides enhancing security measures in jails. This would help bolster security and improve overall law and order situation in KPK.
