Islamabad - Director Building Control Section (BCS), Capital Development Authority (CDA), has approached the local police and other law-enforcement agencies against the owners of Al-Safa Gold Mall, F-7 Markaz, for hurling life threats at him, it has been learnt.

Shafi Muhammad Marwat in an application on July 29 to the SSP Islamabad police, director FIA Islamabad zone and SHO Aabpara police station stated that the owners of Al-Safa Gold Mall are threatening him in various ways. He believes that the threats are the outcome of the CDA’s action against the mall a day before.

Marwat as director BCS CDA submitted to the authorities that in connection with his official duties, on 28 July 2016, CDA personnel sealed Al Safa Gold Mall under his supervision due to building violation and non-payment of CDA dues under law. “The owners of Safa Mall are threatening to me in various ways. He (Abdul Qayyum, the owner) is also trying to blackmail me before any of the law-enforcement agencies as FIA, NAB or any other anti-corruption agency.

There is apprehension that they will harm me physically, morally or otherwise in the same sequence. I am afraid that there is a life threat to me, my family and the staff,” he stated in the application.

Marwat has requested the local police that his complaint be registered against the owners of Al Safa Gold Mall and added, “If any kind of harm is caused to me or my family or staff, the first suspect shall be the owners of Al Safa Mall — Abdul Qayyum and others.”
