LAHORE - PAT chairman Dr Tahirul Qadri has hinted to launch another series of protests against the government over the Model Town incident.

“We have planned our next strategy to get justice for the Model Town martyrs and it will be announced on July 31 (the day PAT is hosting opposition parties meeting),” Dr Qadri said while addressing a press conference at party head office yesterday.

To a question, he said the movement will start after July 31 and concluded on the end of Sharifs’ government. Earlier in the day, the chief of Pakistan Awami Tehreek presided over party’s federal council meeting which empowered him to start “Tehreek-e-Qisas - blood for blood” against the government.

At least 14 PAT workers were killed in a clash with police two years back. The party directly blames PM Nawaz Sharif and Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif for the incident.

A press release issued by said: “PAT’s federal council resolution empowered Dr Tahirul Qadri to start a ‘Tehreek-e-Qisas’ to ensure that the martyrs of the Model Town incident are provided justice.”

The resolution further stated that the FIR of the Model Town incident was registered on the intervention of the Army Chief and “now he must ensure the justice is served in this case and culprits are sent to jail”.

Addressing the press conference, Dr Qadri said that it was imperative to end PML-N regime in order to end this reign of corruption, terrorism and lawlessness.

He also paid tribute to the sacrifices rendered by Pakistan Army in operation Zarb-e-Azab. He also expressed serious concern over the law and order situation in Punjab and large-scale child abductions in the province.
