GUJRANWALA-The Anti-Corruption Establishment has ordered to arrest former MPA and his wife in a fraud case here on Tuesday.

The action was taken on the application of a citizen Tariq Mehmood in which he alleged that he bought a piece of land from former MPA Akhlaq Ahmed and his wife Farzana Khanam and paid Rs215,000 to them and constructed a building on this land.

Later, Akhlaq Ahmed and Farzana Khanam with the collusion of Patwarri Jamil got transferred the piece of land to their names. After inquiring about the matter, the inquiry officer in its report declared Akhlaq Ahmed, Farzana Khanam and Jamil Patwari guilty, he said. In the light of the inquiry report, ECE Director Rana Abdul Shakoor issued ordered to arrest the accused persons.

Citizens irked by govt depts’ corruption

TOBA TEK SINGH-Instead of irrigating the trees and grassy grounds of the Forest Park located on Jhang road, the Forest Department officials sell out the canal water to the local farmers, citizens complained.

Punjab Ombudsman’s district adviser Shahid Abbas has said that he had received complaints from certain citizens on the issue. Talking here to reporters, he said complainants apprised him that the trees planted in the park were being destroyed. He also stated that there were complaints that TMA officials were selling sewerage water near bypass road to the farmers illegally. He added that inquiries were underway into both the complaints and action will be recommended to the Punjab Ombudsman if the allegations were proved correct.
