Islamabad - A messenger (Naib Qasid) on Wednesday opened fire at his boss and critically injured him at Giligit-Baltistan (G-B) Council Secretariat due to differences on an official matter.

According to details, Tanveer Ahmed son of Muhammad Nazeer, a resident of Dhok Suleman sector H-13, Islamabad serving as messenger at G-B office applied for post of clerk within the department. He doubted section officer Abdul Razzaq was favouring another candidate which infuriated him. He fired at Abdul Razaq who received bullet injury in his rib and was shifted to hospital for medical treatment. Assailant Tanveer Ahmed was overpowered by his colleagues and handed over to police for legal action. A case has been registered at Aabpara police station and further investigation is underway.

Furthermore, a female lawyer died and two others got injuries when a van hit them near Karachi Company bus stop here. A van bearing registration number LES-2471 hit three female lawyers standing at the van stop after veering out of control. They were critically injured and were rushed to hospital where Advocate Gulshan Bibi died and two other identified as Asma Noreen and Asma Mustafa are being treated. Police have arrested the driver Sohail and registered a case against him.

Meanwhile, Islamabad police along with Pakistan Rangers and other security agencies on Wednesday conducted search operation in various areas of Sabzi Mandi police station and arrested 32 suspects including seven Afghan nationals.

A police source said officials of Islamabad police, Pak Rangers and other security agencies conducted search operation in the areas of Sabzi Mandi police station including sectors I-10/1, I-11 and its adjacent areas.

During this search operation, more than 130 houses were screened and 32 suspects including seven Afghan nationals were held. Police released 18 persons after their identity verification. Furthermore, local police arrested 40 professional beggars and impounded 166 bikes being driven without documents.
