ISLAMABAD - Chairman Senate Syed Nayyer Hussain Bokhari has said that continuity of the system guaranteed strengthening the roots of democracy and empowerment of the institutions as well as the people. He observed that the present democratic government strongly believed in the supremacy of the constitution and rule of law.

He expressed these views while talking to a delegation of National Youth Assembly at Parliament House here on Tuesday.

The Chairman Senate mentioned that accountability and transparency were key factors to promote good governance and every body was answerable to the Parliament that reflected aspirations of the people. He further said the constitution of 1973 had defined role of each and every organ of the state.

He said the issue at hand was how to ensure effective participation of youth and how to rethink the concept and modalities of participation of youth in the democratic process. In some parts of the world, the participation of youth in elections and political parties was declining and in some other countries youth was at the forefront of political reforms.  Chairman Senate advised youth to take part in the political process because country needs young blood for steering the country out of all the problems.

The youth delegation apprised Chairman of their demands and sought his assistance for the issues being faced by the youth of the country. Chairman Senate assured the delegates for the solution of their genuine demands. Secretary Senate Iftikhar Ullah Babar was also present on the occasion.
