SIALKOT -Fifty-five years old Ashraf, a Pakistani citizen who was killed in torture by Indian police in a Held Kashmir jail, was laid to rest in a graveyard of village Kot Kalaal, Pasrur tehsil here on Sunday.

A large number of people from all walks of life attended the funeral prayers. He had been detained in an Indian jail in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir for the last several years.

He was accused of crossing into an Indian territory through Sialkot border villages several years ago. He was brutally tortured to death by Indian jail authorities. Indian Border Security Forces (BSF) handed over the body to the Punjab Rangers at Wahga. The Punjab Rangers sent it to Pasrur village for burial there.

Mishaps kill 4

SAHIWAL - Four persons including two students were killed in different incidents occurred in different areas the other day. Two students were killed when speeding truck hit a motorcycle opposite circuit house on Sahiwal-Lahore Road the other day. The accident occurred when Muhammad Azeem, a class-9th student and Shahid, an 8th grader were on the way to their Chak 85/5L from Sahiwal on a bike. The truck hit the bike, killing both of them on the spot. The Ghala Mandi Police reached the spot and shifted the dead bodies to hospital and started investigation against the truck driver who managed to escape from the scene.

Homeopathic doctor Muhammad Khawar committed suicide by shooting himself reportedly over severe financial crisis. He is said to have divorced his wife four years ago and was living alone.

A man along with his accomplice allegedly tortured his tenant to death over a children’s scuffle. Shahid Ramay and his friend beat his tenant Rana Kizar Hiyat over a children fight in Pak Avenue Colony Sahiwal. Poultry dealer Rana Kizar Hiyat, resident of Chak 107/9L was living in a house owned by Shahid Ramay in Pak Avenue colony on rent. They thrashed him severely due to which he breathed his last on the spot.

The Farid Town Police registered a case and started investigation without any arrest.
