All-out arrangements have been finalised for the two-day Intra-Kashmir Women conference being from today- , January 31st to discuss the women issues under the auspices of NGO - AJK Women for Peace Organisation (AJKWFPO).

“The focus of the conference will be “Addressing Women Issues in Divided Societies”, Secretary Information AJK WFPO Dr Zahida Qasim told reporters here while highlighting salient features of the conference.

Former AJK High Court CJ Justice (r) Abdul Majeed Mallick will be the chief guest on the occasion whereas Dr Attiya Innayat Ullah, former Federal Minister, and Patron-in-Chief of the AJK WFPO will chair the conference.

“The basic themes will be ‘Historic Perspective of Women in The Divided State of Jammu & Kashmir’, ‘Women Dimension and Legal Status in AJK, and ‘Women and Peace Building, said Dr Seema Jogazai, President of the AJKWFPO.

Over one hundred seasoned personalities from diverse segments of civil society including politicians, academicians, writers, journalists, lawyers, retired senior government officers, students, youth, doctors, social workers and human rights activists will participate in the conference to deliver their respective input on the basic themes of the event.

“All themes explore concerns specific to the women of all regions of Jammu and Kashmir state  and provide a platform for sharing common concerns and for evolving solutions to Women issues arisen due life in a divided State”, she added.

“This would, indeed, be a unique opportunity to enlarge women involvement in the peace process through exchange of views and increased understanding of women specific issues, in seeking sustainable and equitable solutions for harmony and peace to prevail across the whole of this region, Dr Seema Jogezai said.
