Karachi - Bank Alfalah Limited President and Chief Executive Officer Atif Bajwa has been elected as the President of the Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OICCI) for the year 2015.

This was announced at the 155th Annual General Meeting of the OICCI held at the Chamber on Friday, January 30, 2015.

Syed Khalid Siraj Subhani President and Chief Executive Officer, Engro Polymer & Chemicals Limited was elected as the Vice President.

The incoming OICCI President Atif Bajwa addressing the members at the AGM said that there are currently lots of challenges for doing business in Pakistan and these are also regularly highlighted in various surveys, including the World Bank’s annual “Ease of Doing Business” survey where Pakistan’s rating has declined sharply in 2015 to 128 out of 189 countries from ranked 75 in 2010.

Atif Bajwa was confident that the government will be focusing on the reasons for this sharp fall which amongst other factors, includes perception of investor’s about the selective and lukewarm implementation of policies and governance.

OICCI believes that Pakistan is a land of opportunities which can be exploited through better governance, improved policy implementation and robust accountability.
