Islamabad - Popular folk singers including Adeel Burki, Gulshan Jehan and new talented singer Ambreen here on Friday night mesmerised the audience of twin cities with their enthralling performance at Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA).

The singers gave a fabulous performance and received great applause from the audience in musical evening, held under the PNCA’s programme Baithak to promote the local singers and acknowledge the services of established musicians.

Folk artistes and musicians have a unique identity in cultural mainstream of the nation and these artistes from various parts of the country are promoted regularly through various programmes of PNCA including musical evenings, culture shows, exhibitions and travelling shows, said an official at PNCA while talking to this agency. The programme was aimed at acknowledging the skills of the musicians and provides entertainment opportunities to music lovers of the twin cities.

“Pakistan has rich cultural heritage, which needs to be preserved and promoted for improving soft image of the country worldwide,” he said.

The PNCA and other cultural organisations were making efforts to preserve the musical heritage of Pakistan with proper documentation in the field and educating youth about the value of their great heritage.

“The PNCA in its various programmes has focused on traditional music by inviting popular artists, thus highlighting their services and preserving musical heritage of the country,” he added.

Through its various activities and programmes, PNCA creates awareness among the masses that folk artists and musicians have a unique identity in national life as they have made a great contribution in promotion of our culture by transferring it to the next generations, he maintained. A large number of people attended the show and appreciated the efforts of PNCA in promoting and projecting the folk culture of the country in a professional way.
