The Shahkot Police arrested a butcher allegedly involved in transporting donkey meat here in the wee of Friday.

According to details, acting on a tip-off, the police raided a house on Lahore Road and caught red handed Dildar Masih. The police also recovered huge quantity of donkey meat and two alive donkeys. During preliminary investigation, the butcher revealed that two of his accomplices used to supply donkey meat to Rawalpindi hotels and had been doing the business for the last several years. The police have registered a case.

ROBBED: A farmer was deprived off Rs850,000 and a bike by two armed highwaymen near Machike here. Ishaq after drawing the amount from a bank was on the way to his village on an approach road. Meanwhile, robbers intercepted him and snatched the cash and bike from him. The Saddr Police have started investigation.

REGULARISED: The Punjab Health Department has regularised the services of more than 180 lady health workers of Tehsil Noorpur Thal.

Addressing a function in this regard, MPA Malik Muhmmad Waris said that the Punjab government was utilising all resources to provide health facilities for the masses. “The chief minister believes that health and education are the basic needs. And the citizens should also play their role to strengthen the national institutions,” he said. He also said that most of the issues relating to doctors and nurses had already been resolved.
