Islamabad- Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has emphatically stated that the government will not rest, till the country is completely purged of the menace of terrorism. PM said protection of lives and properties of people and maintenance of law and order is our foremost priority

He was addressing the passing-out ceremony of first batch of counter terrorism force today. Nawaz Sharif said protection of lives, properties of people and maintenance of law and order is our foremost priority. He said the entire nation and institutions have taken a consensus decision that the war on terror will be won at all costs, as it is the matter of our future generations and economic prosperity.

He said the war on terror is the nation’s war. On the one hand our armed forces are engaged in Zarb-e-Azb operation, while on the other hand the national institutions and federal and provincial governments are striving to weed out terrorism, under the national action plan.

He said the establishment of counter terrorism force is also part of the action plan. He said this force will be equipped with modern security gadgets and provided necessary training. Besides, its strength will also be further enhanced with the passage of time. He expressed the confidence that other provinces will also follow the suit of Punjab province and establish the counter terrorism force .

Nawaz Sharif said our people including children, women and security personnel have rendered matchless sacrifices in the war on terror. The blood of martyrs will serve as a beacon of light for the entire nation.

Referring to the Shikarpur tragedy, he said the incident has aggrieved the entire nation but he expressed the determination that such deplorable incidents will further bolster our resolve, to rid the country of terrorism.

He said he will soon visit Karachi and Quetta to personally monitor the situation there. He said it will take time to free the country of terrorists, but process has been started towards that end. We will not remain oblivious to our responsibilities.

Referring to other challenges faced by the country including energy, the Prime Minister vowed to address them with the support of nation.

Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif also attended the ceremony.

Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asim Bajwa in a tweet quoted the army chief as saying that the Pakistan Army's commitment to train all law-enforcement agencies (LEAs) and build their capacity to collectively work for security and law and order.

General Raheel said that the training capacity of security forces has been enhanced and the program would be further expanded across the country, read the short statement.

On the occasion, the personnel of Counter Terrorism Force demonstrated their skills to apprehend the terrorists. The Prime Minister also distributed certificates and cash prizes amongst the outstanding officers. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif distributed awards and certificated to the best trainees of the batch. "I am honored to attend the passing out parade of the Elite Force," the premier said. "Such a force is the requirement of the country to eliminate terrorism."

He advised the passing out personnel of the elite force to perform their duties diligently and said, "Your presence should provide a sense of security to the citizens. No one can stop a nation which unites on one point."

Premier Sharif also thanked Army Chief General Raheel Sharif for 'taking personal interest in the training of the elite force personnel'.
