Islamabad - Ambassador of Argentina Rodolfo Martin Saravia in collaboration with the Global International hosted a grand farewell dinner to bid farewell to outgoing ambassadors Said Mohammed Hindam, Ambassador of Egypt, Miroslav Krenek, Ambassador of Czech Republic, Javier Carbajosa Sanchez, Ambassador of Spain and Richard G. Olson, Ambassador of USA and to welcome the incoming new ambassadors Dato Haji Mohamud Saidin and madam, High commissioner of Brunei Darussalam and Margaret Anne Adamson and Marek Krol, High Commissioner of Australia and Charge’D Affairs of Portugal Dr Joao Sabido Costa at the Serena Hotel Islamabad. US Ambassador Richard Olson could not make it due to some very important engagement in Rawalpindi which was informed by Saravia during the ceremony. Saravia is in Islamabad for the last eleven years and he knows everybody who matters. He is master of selecting guests and it was very nice to see so many old friends at this dinner. Syed Fakhar Imam and Syeda Abida Hussain were seen at the diplomatic reception after a long interval. They were standing together and talking to different ambassadors on the national and international affairs. Leader of the House in Senate Raja Muhammad Zafara ul Haq is also very selective in attending the diplomatic receptions and he also made his presence.

The Czech ambassador was scheduled to fly from Islamabad same night after the dinners while the Spanish ambassador was flying the next morning from Islamabad to Madrid. The Czech ambassador would be retired and would be busy after retirement for his unofficial activities in Prague, while the Spanish ambassador would be the director General for immigration in the foreign office. Carbajosa informed that his job would be to coordinate between the foreign ministry and the interior ministry. The Egyptian ambassador would still be available for the whole month of August for the farewell receptions by his friends in Islamabad. Mrs. Alena, wife of Czech ambassador when asked what were the best you found in Pakistan, she replied, “the nature and the people.” We have the best human resource in the world, a dedicated and sincere nation but misguided by certain segments of society. We have the best nature and we can earn a lot by tourism but we have not able to exploit our resources. I was surprised to know from the ambassador’s wife that the total population of Czech Republic is ten million and they are receiving about 6.5 million tourists every year.

Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmed Chaudhry is the most busy bureaucrat in Islamabad but he spares sometime to bid farewell to the outgoing ambassadors. Sohail Anjum Ansari, President Sahiwal Chamber of Commerce and Industry also made it possible to make his presence as the Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Shareef was visiting Sahiwal to visit the coal- fired power project in the area next day.

The ambassador of Egypt Saidin Hindam made a wonderful remarks about Pakistan and everybody clapped when he said; I lived in Pakistan and now Pakistan will live in me for the rest of my life.”

Saleem Saif ullah Khan, Nisar A Memon , Makhdoom Shahab u din, Tallat Hussain, Hassan Askari , Gen (Retd) Tallat Masood, Naeem Sarfaraz, Aslam Raeesani and Chairman PIA Naseer S. N. Jaffar were few among the participants.
