Corps Commander Lt-Gen Javed Iqbal carried out aerial view of the flood-affected areas and presided a high level meeting of civil and military officials to discuss the relief and rehabilitation activities here on Thursday.

During the meeting flood situation was reviewed at length and the administration was directed to make all necessary arrangements for shift the affectees from low-lying areas to safer places.

The Corps Commander informed the participants that more than 600 troops of the Bahawalpur Garrison were carrying out flood relief activities, adding that these troops had been deployed in Ahmadpur Lamma, Bhong, Trinda Muhammad Panah, Chachra Sharif, Bangla Dill Kusha and Smoka areas.

Lt-Gen Javed Iqbal also directed that Army units to remain alert to tackle any emergency situation.

The Corps Commander also informed that Pakistan Army had also established collection centres at various places to collect maximum relief goods for the flood-affected people.
