LAHORE – “The Lahore Police is continuously telling a lie with the court just to protect an inspector who is accused in a murder case,” the Lahore High Court observed here on Friday.

Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi was hearing an appeal of a woman seeking cancellation of police officials’ bails in torture to death case of her son.

Following orders, SSP (Operations) Lahore, Sajjad Manj produced proclaimed Inspector Maqsood Gujjar before the court.

Justice Naqvi observed that the culpable inspector seemed much influential that police bigwigs posted him as Station House Officer (SHO) of Shahdra police station despite the fact that the inspector was facing murder allegations. “It is much disappointing that senior police officers are protecting an accused despite taking disciplinary actions against the accused inspector,” Justice Naqvi regretted.

The court directed the police to remove Inspector Maqssod Gujjar from the post of SHO Shahdra and investigate him like other accused.
