LAHORE – Qoumi Tajir Ittehad Punjab President Babur Butt in a meeting with Punjab Governor Sardar Latif Khan Khosa on Friday rejected the shutter down strike call on Saturday (today), saying it would damage country’s economy and trade.

According to a handout issued from Governor House, a 25-member delegation of traders led by Babar But called on the governor and announced to dissociate themselves from Saturday’s strike.

Mian Akbar Rashid, Javid Iqbal Butt, Haji Muhammad Haroon, Safdar Khan and Ch Azmat were part of the delegation among others who told the governor that traders’ community wanted to keep the wheel of economy moving, and hence won’t take part in the strike.

Punjab Governor while talking to the delegation said that the PML-N leadership lacked political wisdom and democratic spirit. He alleged that PML-N leadership wanted to spread anarchy in the country by resorting to strike calls and inciting people to hold violent protests against the government.

He said that it was a matter of grave concern that Punjab Government was violating the sanctity of section 144 in the metropolis imposed by it to check holding of processions on The Mall.  Governor Khosa also ensured the trader fraternity leaders, Cinema Association President Safdar Khan and General Store Association President that their demands would be fulfilled soon.

He said that federal minister for Trade Makhdoom Amin Fahim would have a sitting with them very soon.
