QUETTA – The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz is all set to announce the names of its candidates for the coming elections shortly, party’s Balochistan chief Sardar Sanaullah Khan Zehri told a news conference on Saturday.

Flanked by party member General (retired) Abdul Qadir and former provincial minister Mir Faiq Jamali, who announced to join the PML-N, at his residence, Zehri admitted that difference of opinion did exist in large groups, but it could be resolved through the majority vote.

He said a list containing the names of the candidates had been sent to the central leadership for approval by a 12-member PML-N committee that drew it up after completing all the formalities. “As soon as we have a word from the central leadership, the names of the candidates would be announced,” Zehri said as he made it clear that all the candidates had to meet the rules and regulations of the party for getting a ticket.

The PML-N leader dispelled the notion that tickets were granted on the demand and wishes of a candidate, saying the PML-N granted tickets to only those who could bring a victory to it, and after evaluation of its position. He also told the media that there was no disagreement over the distribution of tickets in the party.

To a query about the resignation of a woman member from the party’s women wing, Zehri said if anyone had joined the PML-N with a view to acquire a ticket, it was his/her own belief and it had nothing to do with the party.

He also said that women members who were senior to the one that resigned were in the party and that they never resigned over such an issue. He said the resignation of such a candidate exposed her intentions, as the party had not issued any ticket yet.
