LAHORE – As the PML-N is still finalising its election candidates for national and the provincial seats in Punjab, the party has asked all ticket aspirants to file their nomination papers.

The Parliamentary Board meeting with PML-N President Nawaz Sharfi in the chair, continued to finalise candidates on the consecutive fifth day. The Board has picked final candidates for three provinces while process was on for selecting the best candidates for Punjab.

The Board has also completed selection of the candidates on the reserved seats for women and minorities for National and the Provincial and the list in this regard would be sent to Election Commission on Sunday.

Sources in the party confide that since a large number of applicants were aspiring for tickets in Punjab, especially Lahore, the job of the Board has become tough as such it was giving due consideration to all candidates.

They say that the Board was also facing difficulty in adjusting new comers in the party on the seats where the party already has potential candidates.

They say that the announcement of names of the final candidates may take time, may be near withdrawal of the nomination papers, while the party has asked the applicants to file nomination papers immediately for which March 31 (today) is the last day.

In another development in the party, former senior adviser to the Chief Minister Punjab Sirdar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa on Saturday prevailed upon the Party President Nawaz Sharif to forestall entry of Awais Leghari and Jamal Leghari in the party. Sources in the party say that in a meeting with Nawaz Sharif, Sardar Khosa had expressed his reservations over the expected entry of the Legharis in the PML-N after indications of their discomfort in PTI were received through the media reports.

Although the Khosas and the Legharis do not have conflict of constituencies, yet the latter watch their political interest at the scale of Dera Ghazi Khan division. Sources claim that Nawaz Sharif has agreed on taking the Legharis in the party fold and decided to award ticket to Dost Muhammad Khosa, the son of Zulfiqar Khosa, from his native constituency in DG Khan.
