ISLAMABAD  – Business community is playing a vital role in promoting the local economy and Islamabad Police will take every possible measure to address all problems of businessmen. This was said by Inspector General Police Islamabad, Baniyamin Khan, while addressing business community at Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI).

Baniyamin said that no incident of blast took place in the Federal Capital since August, 2011 which shows the best performance of Islamabad Police in maintaining peace in the Federal Capital.

He said that there were 164 entry-exit points of Federal Capital but due to security reasons, Islamabad Police has revised the security plan and reduced them to 55 points, which results in reduction of crime rate up to 20 per cent.

He said that Islamabad Police has acquired two new ambulances for the facilitation of citizens, moreover, he requested for support from the business community for provision of free medicines for the rescue purpose of citizens as well as provision of greater cooperation to make the security system more efficient.

The IG Police said that there was no doubt that citizens were facing problems due to pickets and barriers but these were necessary to ensure tight security.

He said that for the facilitation of citizens and ensuring their convenience, Islamabad Police has reduced these pickets and barriers from 174 to only 74 pickets.

Speaking on the occasion, Zafar Bakhtawari, President ICCI said that we are passing through a phase in which security has become an important issue and especially in the Capital city it has to be handled even more professionally.

Bakhtawari emphasized on promoting the idea of citizen police liaison committee and said that through private sector participation, police could reduce crimes and provide more protection to the society.

He also called for removing of unnecessary pickets and barriers which were put on different points in all around the city and causing immense problem for the commuters. He assured full support of business community to police in making city secure.
