NOORPUR THAL - Gram has been cultivated on over 30 million acres in Thal. According to farmers, currently all the factors are performing well as the crop is passing through milky stage but there are two major risks for the crop including temperature during the month of April and weather in the time of harvesting. If all the conditions remain same and nature continues favouring the crop, bumper production is expected.

Talking to this scribe, DDO Agriculture Rana Khan Bhadhar said that due to sufficient availability of inputs like seeds and favourable weather conditions, grams sowing received overwhelming response and maximum area in the Thal came under the crop production. He further said that crop outlook was very satisfactory.

In the meanwhile, the farmer's leaders Tariq Masood Ayaz, Muhammad Nasir Ullah Khan, Malik Muhammad Qamar Saggu and Malik Abdul Ghafar said that the government was exploiting the farmers of Thal. They were of the view that the farmers were not being paid reasonably for their produce.

They demanded that the prices of agricultural products should be increased in line with dearness in the country. They added that loadshedding had hit them hard.

They reiterated that the farmers should be provided agricultural input at subsidized rates.

Collective efforts must to improve political system: PPP Tehsil Vice-President Muhammad Anwar Khan Baloch underscored the need for collective efforts to develop a strong political system as well as brining radical changes in attitude in the society for developing democratic norms in the country.

Addressing the PPP workers here, he said that without strengthening the institutions, stability of democracy institutions was not possible in the country. Anwar Khan stated that subscribed to the eight points put forward by local leaders of the PPP for the solution of Thal problems.

He lamented that inhabitants of Thal had been suppressed for demanding their rights. He further pointed out that the people of Thal could never be brought back to the mainstream politics without addressing their grievances and healing their wounds.

"I will contest from PP-42 in upcoming general elections," he added.

PPP Khushab district Senior Vice-President Dr Akhtar Hussain Thaeem, City President Malik Ejaz Hussain Chandram and other local leaders were also present on the occasion.
