RAWALPINDI – Dog show, girls sports, and singing competitions were held on the 4th day of Spring Festival at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University (PMAS-AAUR) on Saturday.

The dog show was organised by faculty of veterinary and animal sciences of PMAS-AAUR and about 50 dogs were brought for the show from across the city.

In girls sports, tug-of-war, Handkerchief snatching and were held on the basis of inter-faculty basis. In tug-of-war, faculty of sciences got first position by beating Faculty of Agriculture Team, In Hand kerchief Snatching Women Division team got first position while Management Sciences got second position.

In Chaati race more than 20 students participated, Sofia of Women Division and Nazia of Sciences Faculty got first and second positions, respectively..

In Singing competition, Kashif Hussain of Agriculture Faculty, Samiullah Qureshi of Management Sciences and Sanaid Ikhalq of Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, got first, second and third positions, respectively.

PMAS-AAUR, Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Rai Niaz Ahmad, inaugurated the Dog Show and also addressed on the Girls Sports event. He said the university administration was making all out efforts to raise its academic and research indicators to compete at the international level. He told graduates that they were entering their professional life which would not prove as a bed of roses as they would be required to struggle hard. Dr. Niaz urged them to focus on their targets and futuristic goals as there was no shortcut in life. He stressed that graduates should keep their relation alive with their alma mater and earn good name for it.
