The new budget is about to be announced soon. It will be a people friendly budget as usual meaning more taxes on common man, both by federal as well as provincial governments. This reminds me of Sir Winston Churchill argument against granting India/Pakistan independence. He argued, “Power will go to rascals, rogues and freebooters. All leaders will be of low caliber and men of straw. They’ll have sweet tongues and silly hearts. They will fight amongst themselves for power and the two countries will be lost in political squabbles. A day would come when even air and water will be taxed.”

No doubt Churchill was a true statesman, politician and man of vision. What he said more than seventy years ago has come true today.
