LAHORE Around 4,000 police personnel were put on red alert around the Minar-e-Pakistan especially the Superintendents of Police cordoned of the area and ensured excellent security arrangements to guard the historical procession addressed by PTI Chairman Imran Khan on Sunday. Overall, the City observed bumper-to-bumper vehicular activities as tens of thousands of participants while riding cars, heavy vehicles, trucks, buses and others from different parts of the City and the rest of province were moving towards the historical monument. Imran Khan appreciated the police arrangements saying he knew the inner feelings of the policemen that they were happy to participate in the procession besides performing their official duties. Earlier, the City Police security wing commanded by SSPs and SPs including SSP Shaukat Abbas, SPs Captain Liaqat Ali Malik, Jawad Qamar, Omer Saeed, Maruf Wahla, Mustafa Hammed Kamal, Asif Zaffar Cheema, and others were directed to remain alert the entire day. Around six to seven SPs, 35 DSPs, 50 SHOs, 100 Sub-Inspectors, 150 ASIs, and about 4,000 policemen were deputed, 70 walkthrough gates, 50 CCTV and 150 metal detectors were also installed to ensure no entry of any miscreant into the demonstration.
