OUR STAFF REPORTERS OKARA/DEPALPUR - Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs Manzoor Ahmad Khan Wattoo asserted on Sunday the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party would not let anyone to derail democracy, come what may. Addressing a gathering at the Sondhaa Singh Castle, the minister said those conspiring against the democratically-elected government were not sincere to the country and nation. The PPP has rendered uncountable sacrifices for democracy and it will not let it derail. Wattoo came down hard on the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, saying that Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharifs remarks for President Zardari in the partys rally in Lahore were quite indecent. He said the PPP, being the largest political group in the country, did not believe in the politics of roads. The PML-N was limited to Punjab but the PPP had support from Karachi to Khyber, said the minister, adding that with their rallies, sit-ins, they could not affect the Centre. Even if President Zardari-led government steps down, the PML-N wouldnt succeed in bringing the situation under control, the top PPP leader said as he called the PML-N ineligible to govern. Wattoo cautioned the PML-N leadership that if hurdles were put in the way of the train of democracy or it tried to be derailed, Sharif brothers would be sent to Saudi Arabia once again. The minister averred that the PPP government would definitely complete its constitutional tenure and would come to power against after winning the next general elections in 2013. About the Senate elections, he said some parties did not want the PPP to vie for the poll. In his address, Wattoo paid rich tributes to late Nusrat Bhutto, saying her struggle for the restoration of democracy during the dictatorial regime of Ziaul Haq would be remembered forever. He said the former first lady was a symbol of prosperity of the nation and survival of the country. On the occasion, the minister announced that he would establish an office for public assistance in Hujra Shah Muqeem. He also sought cooperation from the masses and asked them to point out their problems. MNA Khuram Jehangir Khan Wattoo, PPP leader Aamir Hayat Watto were also present.
