Hundreds of employees of Pakistan Railways (PR) Quetta, went on strike on Monday paralyzing the official activities and flow of railway traffic. The striking PR employees were of the view that acute financial crisis in the department has emerged due to astronomical corruptions in railway that on the one hand has added to the miseries of the employees and on other hand resulted in delay of departures and arrivals of all the trains. The said that the electricity connections of the railway colonies besides other departments have also been cut off for non-payments to Qesco by their cash-starved organization. They demanded the authorities and federal as well as provincial governments to play their role in mending the situation and warned to widen the protest and strike if their demands were not fulfilled. Meanwhile, departures of Rawalpindi bound Jaffar Express, Peshawar bound Quetta Express, and Bolan Mail for Karachi could not proceed due to the agitating railway employees against bankruptcy and the lethal corruption in the organization. The passengers including women, children, students and public servants had to face great difficulties due to the railway employees' strike. The agitating passengers criticized the railway authorities for poor service and demanded the federal government and Supreme Court to take the notice of worsening situation to give relief to masses.
